Freetown, 24th September 2024. The Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources (MMMR) and the National Minerals Agency (NMA) have been alerted to several publications in the media making false and fraudulent claims that a company called Elektros (OTC PINK: ELEK) has shipped Lithium from Sierra Leone.
The MMMR and the NMA have reviewed these publications, particularly the publication in the Gleaner Newspaper of 24th September 2024 and on https://finance.yahoo.com/news/elektros-launches-first-lithium-shipments-113000301.html/ , and we hereby inform the public of the following:
- There is no mining company called Electros (OTC PINK: ELEK) operating in Sierra Leone. This company does not have a mining license and has not applied for one in Sierra Leone.
- No company has shipped lithium out of Sierra Leone.
- The NMA has information on all companies exploring for lithium in Sierra Leone, and none of these companies has commenced production.
In view of the above, the public is hereby informed that all claims made in the above publications are completely false, and the public is advised not to do any business relating to mining or lithium with Elektros (OTC PINK: ELEK).
The MMMR and the NMA encourage all stakeholders, particularly Journalists and mining investors, to crosscheck and verify with the NMA all claims of mineral exports from Sierra Leone.
