Meet: Samuel KOROMA

Director of Precious Minerals Trading

Samuel Borbor Koroma is the current Director of Precious Minerals Trading (PMT) for the National Minerals Agency (NMA) and a Focal Person for the Kimberley Process in Sierra Leone. He holds a Bachelor of Arts General Degree and has vast working experience particularly in the mining sector.

Between 1988 – 1997, he worked in the Government Gold and Diamond Office (GGDO), where he started as a Trainee Diamond Valuer and rose to the rank of Assistant Diamond Valuer.

In September 2002 to July 2007, he worked with DFID Diamond Sector Project as a Researcher and in April 2013 returned to GGDO as a Diamond Valuer; and later became the Manager and Senior Valuer of the Precious Minerals Trading Directorate, NMA.

Mr. Koroma has undertaken several courses organized by Diamond Trading Company- De Beers Group Company in Sorting and Evaluation of Rough Diamonds; Kimberley Process Studies in Perth and Kalgoorlie in Australia. He has also attended several capacity building training workshops, seminars and conferences, within and outside Sierra Leone.
